"Sherman is a particularly talented performer, blessed with the rubbery face of a young Tom Hanks and the sharp stare of a Jake Gyllenhaal." -ArtsATL
Micah Sherman is a comic actor and creator based in New York City.
Micah grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where as a teenager he acted in live comedy shows and musicals and even fronted a rock band. After earning a bachelor’s degree in TV production at the University of Georgia he moved to Chicago to study improvisation with The Second City, iO and Annoyance theaters.
After two years in Chicago, Micah moved to Boston to act in the MainStage cast at Improv Asylum. Living in Boston, Sherman performed nightly improv, sketch and stand-up shows and was cast in dozens of commercials and several movies including everyone’s holiday favorite Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
Capitalizing on this success, he moved to New York City where he has starred in several high-profile productions including High Maintenance on HBO, two world premieres by Tony Award-winning playwright Greg Kotis and four national revues with The Second City. Most recently, his original live-action pilot Improvising received a development deal from Left/Right Productions at the New York Television Festival and his animated cartoon pilot McGillucuddy & Martin won Best Web Series at the New York Short Film & Screenplay Festival. Micah was also recently commissioned by Audible to create two “Sitcoms for Your Ears” demos.
Sherman currently improvises with one of New York's longest-running ensembles The Baldwins at The Peoples Improv Theater. He’s also the creator of a number of acclaimed live comedy shows, most notably Old School Sketch Show: Pitch to Stage in Seven Days and The Scene: Improvised One Act Plays.
